Unless you have personally used the product that you are promoting or you know of the product first hand you have got little to no chance of making money unless you have got a huge list to mail to. It will take some people a long time to realise that they are pouring money down the drain promoting some affiliate programmes, and will carry on wasting money for a long time before the penny drops.

There is many ways of promoting a product as an affiliate like PPC which is commonly known as pay per click and you can also purchase leads that you can email to, but none of these methods are going to bring you success if you do not know what you are doing.

Sometimes I believe it is like the blind leading the blind when they are told that the way forward in this game is to promote your product with either the pay per click or buying costly leads to email to, because you do not know which adwords to use on the pay per click, and unless you have a pre-written email that’s going to excite your customers you might as well forget it.

Most of the big hitters in this game make money out of doing affiliate programmes because they have branded themselves in the right way, and most of all because they have got a list the size that you can only dream of.

When you start to look at the affiliate market from this angle you begin to realise that it is not worth just throwing money at any affiliate programme and to first do a little bit of research into what you will be promoting. Secondly when you have found a product or programme that you wish to promote as an affiliate, write an engaging post about it on your blog and then send the traffic to your blog. This way you will find that you can write a lot more content on a post on your blog that you can in an email,I have found this a much more productive way of making sales as an affiliate.

Not only have you got a better chance of making a sale on the product or programme that you are promoting, but you have also got a good chance of selling a different product or programme if you have monetised your blog in the right way, with putting banners and other posts with other affiliate links in them.

If you are a newbie at this game then believe me this is one of the easiest ways of making commissions that I know, and as an added bonus if you set your blog up in the right way you have got a good chance of making affiliate commissions from lots of different programmes and products. You do not have to rub shoulders with the big hitters doing it this way, it is like taking your customers to your own private little shop. Try it you might be surprised how easy it is to make a commission doing it like this.

Here are seven vital ingredients for building a successful blog with a loyal following.

1. Publish Regularly.

As your readers become familiar with the frequency of your posts, it will influence their visiting behavior. If your readers know that you post fresh content every day, they will probably come every day to read it. If they know you post on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, that’s when they will come.

2. Stay on Topic.

Stick to your niche. If your blog doesn’t have a niche, give it one. Readers like blog’s that are focused on a particular theme or topic. If you have no theme and just post about anything, then readers are less likely to become passionate about your blog and will probably move on to somewhere else.

3. Use Meaningful Titles in Posts.

This not only announces clearly what the post is about, but it will help people navigate your blog and also influence your ranking with search engines.

4. Interact With Your Readers.

Think of your blog like a conversation. You post. Readers comment. Be active and be positive as you interact and converse with your readers.

5. Highlight Your Best Posts.

Don’t let your best posts get lost in your archives. It’s always a good idea to link to your best posts from a ‘best posts’ category on the main page.

6. Provide Good Navigation to Popular Pages

If you help people find the key pages within your blog, their visit will be a much more enjoyable experience.

7. Avoid Not Posting for Extended Periods.

If someone visits your blog and discovers that the last post was three weeks ago, they will probably be disappointed. If you don’t post, people may give you the benefit of the doubt and come back on a few days to check, but you better believe they will lose interest quickly if you fall out of your regular schedule and stop posting.

There you have it. Seven little tips that will make a big difference to your blog’s readership. It’s not rocket science. It’s just using some common sense when posting and interacting with your readers.

If you are not going to pick a good topical niche to write about, then do as I will do and that is to write about my journey from zero to hero in the world of internet marketing. I do realise that people who just talk about themselves 24/7 will eventually bore their audience to the point of leaving, but the person who writes about his or hers journey, from beginning to end makes very interesting reading, especially for someone who is thinking of embarking on the same or similar journey. If you are not thinking of doing the same sort of thing, then do as I said in the beginning and pick a good niche that you know something about. The ideal situation is to write about a hobby that you are interested in, and that is also very popular with millions of people. Example [Fishing].

Now you can start posting on forums, but make sure you put your url  from your blog in in your forum signature, or it can be classed as spam and that is the last thing you need when you are just starting out. Do not just blast your way into the forum, pimping your crap, as my mentor would say. [Alex Jeffreys] The ideal approach  would be to just join the conversation, and try and make sure that it is the same as the niche you are writing about. This way you will get a lot of return readers to your blog. Try to find the most current forums in the niche you are writing about.

If you find it difficult to find a good forum in your own niche, just go to google and google search for your own niche keywords, and then just add forums. You should then find that you have a big enough list to pick a good size forum with at least a couple of thousand members in. Another thing that is worth thinking about is to try and do trackbacks and pingbacks to all the other blogs that you have visited and commented on, so they will know who you are. Curiosity will always make people come and look who you are when they find out that you have been talking about them, they will want to know exactly what you said about them. What is even better is that some of their readers will hear that you were talking about an interesting subject and then they will visit your blog.

Try and put a bit of time aside to make visits to other peoples blogs and leave comments, and nine times out of ten you are asked to leave your blog url which obviously links them straight back to your blog. Try to visit and comment on blogs that are writing about the same sort of niche that you are writing about, and then you are more liable to find that when they visit your blog that they will stay a lot longer. You should always keep your blog up to date when you first start writing because your readers will always look forward to returning and reading your latest post when you have got their attention. If you just stick to the basic guides that I have just mentioned you will find that you will get a natural organic growth of traffic and find more and more readers and comments coming to your blog every day. Don’t forget to never use spam on your fellow writers blogs, as Google do not take very kindly to this and one way or another you will be penalized, which in turn will brake the chain of organic growth of your blog.

First of all ,set up your blog and get it up and running, this is your oil rig. When you start to put content on to your blog that is the algae which will grow all round the oil rig legs .This in turn will entice all of the shell fish clams etc, which are the people who have started to comment about the content on your blog.

Now when you go oil rig hopping which means you are visiting other peoples blogs and leaving your comments you are just starting to attract fish to your oil rig, and this is where you start to fish by using free ebooks as your bait to attract even more fish.

So by now the algae [content] is growing at a steady rate the clams [people looking at your content] attracting fish [prospects] around, which in turn are going to attract the bigger fish [customers] around with the help of your free ebook [hook].

Now you are beginning to really start catching the big fish [customers] so you are nearing the ultimate goal, and that is to catch a shark [Joint Venture Partner], and this is all possible because you started a natural food chain [organic traffic] and let it take it’s natural course.

This to me was one of the most important things  that I have learnt about getting  natural organic traffic to your blog and keeping it evergreen, and without doubt letting your blog flourish.

As long as you keep a steady flow of good content [algae] going on to your blog and keep doing an occasional bit of oil rig hopping your free organic traffic will grow and grow and your blog will flourish without doubt.You should then find that your customers should start to come at first slowly but eventually at a steady rate.Happy Blogging!

The most important or one of the most important parts is the effect it will have on your Search Engine Optimization [SEO].I think you can see what a perfect way that blogging can be to benefit your business with a steady stream of organic posts to your blog.In my mind there can be no easier way,by just changing a few keywords every now and again of getting good quality free traffic to your website.

As I have said in previous articles,pushing yourself to write weekly updates in your blog while adding relevant adwords all of the time,can lead to astonishing results to the ranking of your website by all of the search engines.Straight away you will start seeing a difference to the flow of traffic to your website,believe me I know writing a post can take quite a long time sometimes,but when you evaluate the time and the results you can get,its worth every second.

Also a good way of getting more traffic is to start using “niche”keywords,hence filtering out more targeted traffic.I will try and explain what I mean and how to use “niche” keywords.If you used the word ” bike”as your “niche” keyword you could be sure that it is well used,hence making it very competitive.If you have for argument sake “Two Wheel Push Bike”this phrase is going to be no where near as competitive and most likely exactly what the person is looking for in your blog.

Being recognized by most of the search engines is going to explode the traffic which is ultimately going to end up at your site.In my own experience I do believe if you do the proper research on the keywords that you are going to use you will generally find you get alot more traffic.One thing for sure if you write a good post in your blog its odds on that the search engines will pick it up very quickly,thus proving what a fantastic tool your blog can be.It is a well known fact that people using Wordpress seem to get indexed a lot quicker than most of the others except Google Blogger.

Nearly all of the search engines will rate your site with some sort of quality score,obviously this will determine how good your ranking will be.It goes without saying the more decent content you give and good value will also determine how you fare.It does not take alot of intelligence to work out if your blog consists purely of affiliate links and looks like one big sales page the chances are that the search engines are going to rank you really low.Say for argument sake you have a blog that is rich in good keywords updated posts full of good content and great value it goes without saying the chances are you are going to get a good ranking.

To me this is just another step forward in my student course with Alex Jeffreys and how he has taught me. It has often been said that blogs with good content rank high on the search engines, therefore pulling in tons of targeted, rabid buyers. And of course, many ‘gurus’ and experts encourage you to set up blogs, write truckloads of articles, post them on ezine or goarticles, and over time, your blogs get picked up and presto! You get your wonderful, desperate buyers.
So you worked like a donkey, producing content for your blog, then writing separate articles for article submission. Maybe it was fun at first. But after a couple of months, your hands are shaking, your mind is a total blank and most likely, you’re so sick and tired that you’ll scream till the roof collapses when you see another article.
You’ve probably toyed with the idea of other sources of advertising or traffic generation such as PPC ads, leveraging on social networking sites etc. But you realized that they would cost time and money, both of which you want to save, not spend.

In the simplest, more basic form, yes. You see, Blog Carnivals are like a huge compilation of blog events, very much like a magazine, with a topic, editors, contributors, and most importantly of all, the readers.
